Sensitive Teeth Help Please?

I see my dentist in a few days, and until now only a few molars were sensitive to cold and sweet foods/beverages. Now, all my teeth are sensitive, and I've read that it's from the dentine being exposed from eroded enamel. My question is, what should I ask the dentist for? A better toothpaste? Prevident 5000 Sensitive? A fluoride treatment? I'm open to anything to end this. I can't even eat ice cream anymore without a mind-numbing pain..
