What are some alcoholic beverages?

I turn 21 on the 29th and I never really consumed alcohol like everyone else..I'm a college student, and I just wanted to know what are some good manly drinks that I could just buy out of a store..One of my old coworkers told me when I decide to start drinking alcohol stay away from the sweet stuff because it's for girls..Does that include mike's hard lemonade and captain morgan ?
